Ross Ihaka

Ross Ihaka is an Associate Professor of Statistics at the University of Auckland who is recognized, along with Robert Gentleman, as one of the originators of the R programming language. He received the Royal Society of New Zealand's Pickering Medal in 2008 for his work on R.[1]
