Sim or Shim is a Korean surname. There are 6 Sim clans in Korea. They are Cheongsong, Poongsan, Samcheok, Booyou, Uiryeong, and Jeonju. The most famous Sim clan is Cheongsong[citation needed] and they comprise about 85% of the all the Sim's. Fourteen percent of all Korean Sim's belong to the Pungsan and Samcheok clans. As of 2000, there were 252,255 people with this surname in South Korea, less than 1% of the population[citation needed].

The Cheongsong Shim originated from Cheongsong kun Gyeongsangbukdo. The clan's founding ancestor is General Shim Hong-Boo. He had 7 children. Shim was a Prime Minister of the Korean Joseon Dynasty, and the father of a Queen and father-in-law to King Sejong. He is most famously known for his unfortunate treason charges, which eventually led to his death and further strengthening of the royal power.
Cheongsong Shim Clan has emblem(logo). In the emblem, there are river, pine and Chinese letter of sim. All they mean eternity. So, this emblem means eternal and endless prosperity generation after generation. The circle was modeled on the Sun and the Moon which symbolize that descendants will succeed and advance to spirit and a splendid accomplishment of ancestors.
In 2002, the 2002 year version of cheongsong shim genealogical tables books were published. The books include 10 books of genealogical table, index book and introduction of cheongsong shim clan. According to the cheongsong shim clan's officer, they will publish a internet genealogical tables within a few years. Thus, people who have cheongsong shim family name can search their family tree in the Internet.
