
Digital Video (DV)是1994年所发表的一种数码影像规格(digital video format),由MiniDV录像带所采用。
自1990年代初期,世界知名厂商即各自发表高画质的家庭用影像数位化规格,但为避免重蹈Beta和VHS规格战的历史教训,当时由十家厂商召开HD数位化VCR协议会,包含Matsushita Electric Industrial Corp.(Panasonic) ,Sony,Victor Corporation of Japan(JVC) ,Philips,N.V,Sanyo,Hitachi,Sharp,Thompson Multimedia,Mitsubishi和Toshiba,并于1994年4月同意了家庭用(Consumer)数位VCR规格,这就是所谓的DV规格,也就是家庭用摄影机DV规格,现在全世界已有超过60家的厂商加入此协议。
一般所称DV(家庭用又称mini-DV),采用1/4吋(6.35mm)金属蒸发型磁带,在NTSC系统的影像信号是4:1:1,8 bit,亮度讯号取样频率为13.5MHz,色差讯号取样频率为3.375MHz的数位Component讯号,采全画面720x480像素分辨率, (CCIR601标准720x486) ,有效的总位元速率(bit rate)为约125Mbit/sec,压缩技术规范与JPEG一样,使用DCT(Discrete Cosine Transform)计算法,以Intrafield图场内压缩,类似Motion-JPEG作法,压缩比固定约5:1,所以DV的影像位元速率(bit rate)为25Mb/sec,也就是说约3.6MByte/sec。专业用数位影带卡匣(Digital Video Cassette)较Mini DV卡匣大录影时间长。
